Our Story

We started Refactor 312 as four astrophysicists who wanted to use our technical skills for direct community impact. After grad school, we saw two things: nonprofits across Chicago doing powerful work without access to affordable data or technology support, and young technologists eager to gain experience in a challenging job market.

We began by helping local organizations with data science and coding, and it quickly grew into something bigger. We wanted to prove that technology doesn’t have to feel distant or corporate, but can be personal, community-driven, and do good.
